Hallett Peak is a mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park, in the state of Colorado, in the United States. It rises to 12,713 feet and is reached from the Bear Lake Trailhead near Estes Park, Colorado.
What the visit involves
The usual route to the peak runs by way of the Flattop Mountain trail, which the park describes as challenging. Hikers climbing it gain height steadily, and the ground above the treeline is exposed to weather and altitude. The walk is best suited to experienced hikers and climbers, and it is worth going prepared for changing conditions at high elevation.
What you will see
The main draws are the dramatic ridgeline and the views of alpine lakes that open up along the way and from the summit area. For many visitors, the reward is the sense of being high above the trees in a wide landscape of rock, tundra and water.
