アイアリック湾

Aialik Bay, also known as Aialik Fjord, is a fjord within Kenai Fjords National Park, near Seward, Alaska. It runs about 13 miles inland and is one of the more accessible fjords in the park, which makes it a common choice for visitors who want to see Alaska's coastal scenery without a long journey.

What you will see

The bay is framed by dramatic granite cliffs rising from the water. At its head are tidewater glaciers, where ice meets the sea. The contrast between the rock, the ice and the dark water gives the fjord a strong sense of scale and quiet.

Wildlife is a major part of the experience. Visitors commonly look out for:

  • Sea otters, often seen floating in the calmer stretches of water
  • Seals, resting on ice and along the shoreline
  • A range of other marine life that makes the bay a rewarding place to watch

Planning your visit

Aialik Bay lies within Kenai Fjords National Park, so the park's facilities and rules apply. Most visitors reach the fjord by boat from Seward, the gateway town on the Kenai Peninsula. Seward offers lodging, restaurants and tour operators, and is a natural base for a day or more in the area.

For details on conditions and visiting the park, you can call the park's contact line at +1-907-422-0500.

Whether you come for the glaciers, the wildlife or simply the view of a wide, cold fjord, Aialik Bay offers a focused and memorable part of the Kenai Fjords landscape.
