天文時計

1410年に設置された中世の天文時計で、現在も稼働している天文時計としては世界最古のものです。毎時行われる使徒たちが動く仕掛けで有名です。

Astronomical Clock (Prague Orloj) stands on the Old Town Square of Prague, in Bohemia, at Staroměstské nám. 1/3. It is a medieval astronomical clock, installed in 1410, and it is recognised as the oldest working astronomical clock in the world. Locals also know it as the Pražský orloj.

What to see

The clock is best known for its hourly show, when figures of the apostles move past the windows above the dial. Visitors gather in the square beneath the clock to watch the procession, which is the main reason many people come here. The dial itself shows astronomical information alongside the time, and it rewards a slower look once the crowd has thinned.

Planning your visit

  • The clock is outdoors on the square, so the visit is easy to fit into a walk through the Old Town.
  • Arrive a few minutes before the hour if you want a good view of the apostles.
  • For questions before you go, the listed contact number is +420 775 400 052.

Because the clock sits at the heart of the Old Town Square, it makes a natural starting point for exploring the historic streets, churches and cafés nearby. A short visit suits a passing traveller, while a longer stay gives time to watch more than one show and to wander the surrounding old streets.
