天然拱门

Arco Naturale, also known as the Natural Arch of Capri, is a limestone arch on the eastern side of the island of Capri, in the Bay of Naples. It was shaped over a long period by the sea wearing away the rock, and today it stands about 18 metres high, framing views out over the water below.

What the visit is like

Most visitors come to see the arch itself and the sea framed beneath it. The walk to reach it is part of the outing: a scenic footpath leads from Capri town, so the route gives you a sense of the island's landscape on the way. It suits a relaxed half-day rather than a rushed stop, and it is best taken at a steady pace with time to look around.

Getting there and around

  • The arch lies on Via Arco Naturale, 80073 Capri, in the province of Naples.
  • It is reached on foot from Capri town along the footpath.
  • The eastern side of the island is quieter than the busiest centre, which many people find a pleasant change.

Because the arch is a natural feature rather than a building, there is little to do once you arrive beyond looking, photographing and enjoying the outlook. Pairing it with a visit to Capri town makes a full day, with cafés and shops to return to afterwards.
