梅里达考古遗址群

UNESCO世界遗产地,拥有西班牙最丰富的古罗马遗迹。包括剧场、圆形竞技场、赛车场以及众多其他古罗马纪念建筑。

The Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida is a UNESCO World Heritage site in the city of Mérida, in the Badajoz province of Spain's Extremadura region. Its name is also given in Spanish as Conjunto Arqueológico de Mérida. Despite the Yucatan area sometimes associated with the name in other listings, the ruins described here are the Roman remains in Mérida, Badajoz, at the address Calle José Ramón Mélida, s/n, 06800.

The site is known for holding the most extensive collection of Roman ruins in Spain. It brings together several large monuments in one walkable area, so a visit can cover a good deal of the city's Roman past in a single outing.

What you can see

  • The theatre, a stone structure built for performances
  • The amphitheatre, an arena of the kind used for public spectacles
  • The circus, a long venue for chariot racing
  • Numerous other Roman monuments spread across the grounds

Planning a visit

The ensemble suits anyone interested in archaeology, ancient architecture or the Roman history of the Iberian Peninsula. Because the monuments are spread out, comfortable shoes and some time set aside are sensible. For questions about visiting, you can call +34 924 004 908.

Mérida itself is a city where the Roman layer is part of everyday life, so the ruins pair well with a stroll through the historic centre and a look at other sights in town. Check the contact number before you go to confirm arrangements for your visit.
