Puente Charles de Gaulle

Puente histórico que cruza el río Meuse, famoso por su colección de esculturas coloridas de saxofones. Nombrado en honor al general francés que fue herido aquí en 1914.

The Charles de Gaulle Bridge crosses the Meuse River in Dinant, Belgium, linking the two banks of this riverside town. It is a historic bridge, named after the French general who was wounded here in 1914, and it is easy to reach on foot from the centre of Dinant.

What to see

The bridge is best known for its collection of colourful saxophone sculptures, which appear along its length and give it a playful character that sets it apart from many other crossings. Walking over it lets you see them close up, with the river flowing beneath and the town around you.

Visiting the bridge

  • The bridge is open at all times, so you can visit at any hour of the day or night.
  • It is a short, pleasant stop for a walk, a photograph, or a pause while exploring Dinant.
  • The address is Pont Charles de Gaulle, 5500 Dinant, Belgium.

Around the bridge

Dinant's riverside setting makes the bridge a natural starting point for a stroll along the Meuse. Visitors often combine a crossing with time spent in the town itself, where the river, the streets and the surrounding landscape offer more to explore after you have seen the sculptures.
